How can a potato be that good ?
I tried the one with cheese, beans and butter and the one with corn beef, cheese and beans. Soon I will taste the one with bacon, cheese and beans. Hope it'll be as good as the 2 others.
Love this place.
1. It's a food truck, it gives to your lunch an hipster breeze.
2. It's ready in less than a minute.
3. It's cheap.
4. It's so good.
5. It's... ? It's... ? The Jacket Potato. -

As long as there is potato and cheese then I can survive anything. The Potato Man is a family business that's been a street trader here in Brum since 1990. They do what it says in the name, baking their potatoes in a proper pickwick oven it is a quick, relatively healthy option for lunch. You can expect a cue from these guys at peak office lunch times but its a good choice for food on the go, hot, filling and super yummy. They do all the usual fillings and you know that the potatoes have been freshly cooked on site that day with no heating up in a microwave so you are guaranteed a crispy skin.
Avoid the fast food burgers of the world and visit these guys instead. -

Fancy a baked potato? Want to buy something while on lunch but don't fancy going into a supermarket or restaurant? What Potato Man offers is genuinely tasty jacket potatoes with various toppings and selections of yummy fillings which cater for each person's taste buds.
There have been a few times when I've had to go past the potato van because unfortunately there are large queues at times; as everyone thinks the same thing at lunch time......'head to 'The Potato Man'. I can't think of another food van which does jacket potatoes that good! The way they are baked, with succulent crispy skin; each potato is cooked just right. My favourite topping is the tuna, beans and a bit of cheese.
Now it might not be to everyone's taste but I love it; try it, I might have converted you to my jacket potato ways. For vegetarians there are also plenty of toppings which you can choose from. -

I watch a lot of shows on the Food Network - like Man vs Food, and Food Truck Wars. (yes, I'm obsessed with food, what of it?) And I guess The Potato Man is pretty much our equivalent of the American food trucks which are gaining in popularity. (Thinking about it, perhaps I should move over there and do a baked potato food truck with very English fillings?)
He can reliably be found not far from Tesco on New St, and there's ALWAYS a queue for his potatoes. Cooked in the traditional way for hours and hours means they have awesomely thick crispy skin and he offers a wide range of toppings - though I DO wish they'd offer a veggie chili or ratatouille. Hey ho. Beans and coleslaw always taste good!
